 Relish a full-day trip to Alexandria; Egypt’s second largest city, and its main port on the Mediterranean. Founded by Alexander in 331 BC, the city soon became a beacon of culture and an intellectual centre of the ancient world for three successive centuries.

 The drive to Alexandria takes approximately three hours. Upon arrival, explore the highlights of the city: the Roman Amphitheatre, the Catacombs of Kom-al-Shoqafa, and the Qait-Bey Fortress built on the same location of the ancient lighthouse Pharos.  Indulge in a delicious seafood lunch while enjoying unrivalled panoramic vistas of the Mediterranean.

After lunch, enjoy a drive along the sea promenade.Our day-trip to Alexandria ends with a visit to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a wonderful reincarnation of the ancient library of Alexandria, and a vast complex receiving more than 800,000 visitors a year.

***Please dress conservatively when visiting churches and mosques. Gentlemen should avoid shorts and ladies should avoid mini-skirts, shorts, transparent (see-through) or tight clothing, and tank tops. Also, please be aware that intimate behavior; i.e. holding hands or kissing is not acceptable inside churches and mosques. Photography is restricted inside some churches, so please consult your guide first. Should you wish to photograph people then please ask for permission.
